Thai Yoga Bodywork

Energetic balancing through
assisted yoga, mediation & massage

How it works

Thai Yoga Bodywork is a comprehensive healing
system that combines therapeutic stretching,
joint mobilization, acupressure, energy
balancing, massage, assisted yoga positions
and Buddhist meditation.

The focus of this healing art is on gently stretching and opening
the body; as tension and holding are released,
blood and energy can flow freely throughout
the body to the cells, tissues and organs.

The fundamental theory behind the practice
lies in the concept of vital energy and energy
pathways. Similar to Ayurvedic and Chinese
medicine, Thai medicine focuses on the
circulation of vital energy called prana through
10 major energy pathways or sen. Thumbing
and palming along the sen lines helps in the
removal of energy blockages and stimulates
freedom of vital energy flow.

Benefits of Thai Yoga Bodywork

  • Energy balancing
  • Stress and pain release
  • Increased joint mobility and flexibility
  • Immune system support
  • Toning of internal organs
  • Release of toxins
  • Increased vitality
  • A deep state of relaxation
  • Centeredness and a sense of well-being

A Thai Yoga Bodywork session is a flowing
dialogue between the client and practitioner,
akin to a dance or martial arts sequence.
The client is physically passive and completely
supported in all positions by the therapist.
The work is performed in soft comfortable
garments on a mat on the floor and all
stretching and pressure is done within the
comfortable tolerance of the client.

Sessions are typically between 11/2 and 2 hours and are
held at the Yoga Center of Newburyport.

The fee is $120 each session.
